Osteoporisis

Weakening of your bones is  called Osteoporosis.  It affects women and men.  Main reason: menopause in women and andropause in men with declining of s.e.x. hormone production.  Some other causes may play a role like high parathyroid hormone production, loss of calcium because of kidney disease, etc..  Osteoporisis is not a benigh disease.  It can kill pretty quickly.  How? Because of hip fracture complications like blood clots.  Or surgery complications.  Therefore take it seriously.

Even though diet is not the primary cause of osteoporisis, it can help you slow age related bone loss.

Osteoporosis dietary suggestions:

1.  Increase intake of fruits and vegetables: spinach, broccoli, kale, turnips, bock choy, collards, whole grains.

2.  Increase intake of yogurt, egg yolk, liver and fish oil.

3.  You can benefit from taking fermented soy products like miso and tempeh (1).

4.  Avoid meat and meat products.

5.  Stay away from salt, refined sugars (2), soft drinks (3,4), processed food.
